CUSTOM CHINA IN THE HOMER LAUGHLIN CHINA LOBBY
One of the things that make Homer Laughlin China different, in the world of china manufacturers, is our ability and willingness to personalize the look of our customer’s table. Today, everyone wants their dinnerware to be unique and we have helped many celebrities, restaurateurs and retailers to achieve that goal.
The items and patterns, currently on display in our main lobby, show off some of our most artistic efforts, as well as the function and durability our products are known for. The biggest challenge in setting the display was deciding what to show. No matter what we put on those shelves, we knew we would be leaving out many of the creative custom dinnerware services we have produced over the years. If we left out one of your favorites, we apologize. Based on the positive reaction so far, we may re-visit this theme again. Maybe you will see one of those you like best in a future lobby display.
I don’t have room in this short editorial to list everything on exhibit in the lobby, but I do want to point out a few of them. One of the most eye catching is the pink rimmed floral pattern we recently did for the Main Dining Room at The Greenbrier, in White Sulphur Springs, WV.
We have done and continue to do a fair amount of custom work for major restaurant chains, both in the design of new items and new decorations. Scattered throughout the lobby, you will see examples of pieces we have designed for Friendly’s Ice Cream, Chili’s, Applebee’s, Rockne’s, Carrabba’s, Steak N’ Shake and TGI Friday’s just to name a few.
We are very proud to have produced the entire service used at the Governor’s Mansion in Charleston, WV. The concept for this service, which changes with the seasons, was envisioned by former First Lady Gayle Manchin. Examples of the Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring patterns are all on display.
I have to end by mentioning one of my favorites, Pete’s Breakfast House, was featured on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives with Guy Fieri in 2013. For them, we made a mug decorated with the peace sign and a tag line that reads “All we are saying – is give Pete’s a chance.” I have always liked the look and feel of real diners and I love the food. And while I’m not a big fan of plain old “cute“, I can be a real sucker for “clever“, and that tag line on your mug? — That’s clever.
