Over 150 Years of Color, Craftsmanship, and Community

From the first plate fired to the latest limited-edition hues, Fiesta Tableware Company’s story is as colorful as its products. For generations, Fiesta has been more than just dinnerware—it’s a part of homes throughout America. The company’s legacy isn’t just in the dishes it creates; it’s also in the people of the Ohio Valley. For over 150 years, it has been a cornerstone of Newell’s community.

Originally established as The Homer Laughlin China Company, The Fiesta Tableware Company has been crafting high-quality dishes in the Ohio Valley since 1871. Founded in East Liverpool, Ohio by brothers Homer and Shakespeare Laughlin, the company was created with seed money acquired from a contest sponsored by the East Liverpool City Council. The pottery industry was already well established in the area, and the city council offered $5,000 to anyone who could create a new line of white ware.

The company relocated to Newell, WV in 1907 when there was no longer room to expand in East Liverpool. The first Homer Laughlin plant in Newell was the world’s largest pottery factory at the time it was constructed. The company continues to be family owned and operated by the fourth generation of the Wells family. 150 years later, the company still plays a significant role in the region, giving back to the community whenever they can and ensuring that their charitable dollars go towards making the tri-state area a better place.
