“Sounds of Summer” to Bring Music, Games, and Family Fun to Weirton on August 9th

Kick off the afternoon with an outdoor yoga session at 12 p.m. to relax and reset. All skill levels are welcome. Registration is $15 at the event or $10 in advance at www.tinyurl.com/wss-yoga2. Vendors will be set up from noon until 4 p.m., offering desserts, handmade crafts, health and wellness products, homemade dog treat, fresh flowers, and more.

A cornhole tournament will begin at 1 p.m., offering cash prizes for the top three teams. Entry is $20 per team, with registration open at the event until 12:45 p.m. Teams are encouraged to pre-register at www.tinyurl.com/wss-cornhole2. Food trucks, a beer tent, lawn games, a 50/50 benefitting Madonna High School, and a dunk tank raising funds for the Oak Glen Football Boosters will also be available throughout the day.

Live music begins at 2 p.m., featuring a dynamic mix of feel-good summer sounds. Joshua Garrett will kick off the music at 2 p.m. with a set on the steel drums. At 4 p.m., 80’s cover band Ridgemont High will take the stage with your favorite throwback hits. Latin funk and soul group, the Labra Brothers, return to the Event Center stage at 6 p.m. to close out the evening. This month’s event will also feature a Car Cruze beginning at 5 p.m., giving attendees a chance to check out classic cars while enjoying the music.

“Second Saturday brings out the best of summer,” said Rachel Keeney, Executive Director of the Top of WV CVB. “The full lineup of activities is a great way for the community to come together, relax, and have some fun.”

Second Saturday is free to attend and open to the public. Bring your lawn chairs and friends and enjoy the afternoon.
