Loco for Crazy Mexican

Loco for Crazy Mexican

When it comes to finding authentic Mexican cuisine in the Northern Panhandle, Crazy Mexican Restaurant & Grill is the place to be!

The scent of homemade tortilla chips wafting through the air entices you to turn into Three Spring Plaza, just a stone’s throw from Route 22. Upon entering you will be greeted by friendly staff, brightly colored decorations, and plethora of seating options. With a main dining area, mezzanine, large bar, and even larger patio, there’s a seat for the whole squad!

Our server promptly brought out warm chips and homemade salsa, and I’m so glad we decided to upgrade to the guacamole. Much to our surprise, out rolled out a cart and the fresh ingredients were mixed right in front of us! Although we did not expect dinner and a show, we very much enjoyed it as well as the delicious guacamole that followed.

We also started with the ceviche, which consisted of shrimp slices marinated in a cilantro-lime vinaigrette, tossed with tomatoes, onions, fresh jalapenos, avocado, and cilantro. This ceviche did not disappoint! It was the perfect combination of freshness, flavor, and spice to prepare us for our meal.

The menu was filled with traditional fare such as burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and enchiladas, but also boasts more unique dishes – our favorite being the Boiling Molcajete! Served in a hot volcanic stone bowl, this sizzling feast was piled high with slices of tender ribeye steak, juicy chicken, seared shrimp, sauteed onions and peppers, pineapple, asparagus, fresh cheese, and topped to perfection with cilantro. But that’s not all! It also came with rice, beans, shredded lettuce, Pico de Gallo, sour cream, and your choice of either warm flour or corn tortillas.

While that was more than enough to fill us up, we couldn’t help but order the chicken soup! With chunks of chicken breast, black beans, corn, onion, rice, and avocado in a rich broth, I know exactly what I’ll be ordering on the cold winter evenings over the next few months.

The atmosphere, food, and staff were plenty of reasons to return, but we will also be coming back for the margaritas! Enjoying your meal with one of these heavenly drinks is a must as there are many flavor options to choose from. If you can’t decide, try a flight of margs. Keep your eye out for their Painting with a Flight nights, during which you can enjoy one of these flights whilst being instructed on how to paint a picture as well as Frida Kahlo – or that might just be the margaritas talking! Either way, we can officially say we’re Loco for Crazy Mexican!
